Farida El Tayeb

Women's health writer

I am a women's health writer with a focus on PCOS/PMOS, hormonal imbalance, menstrual wellness, PMS/PMDD, nervous system healing, nutrition, & fitness.

My work also seeks to explore what it means to be in relationship with your body while trying to heal.

What is the body trying to communicate to me right now? How do I listen? How do I bridge discipline with softness?

I am being told I need to track my macros to lose weight, but I am so‍ exhausted. I can train consistently before my luteal phase, but then I struggle with depression, anxiety, and cravings before I get my period. I feel like I need to use my mind to discipline the body, but my heart is hurting in a way that feels unbearable. How can I hold space for both?

This is the space that I explore: mind, body, and spirit in equal balance.

Yes, you need to make sure your blood sugar levels are balanced, but you also need to learn how to slow down enough to feel your body. Yes, you need to strength train 3x a week, but you also must ask yourself: where have you abandoned play, joy, and curiosity in your life?

I also seek to explore non-Western frameworks that help us understand health and wellbeing, like TCM and Ayurveda. My background in sociology also means I always integrate wellness into a larger framework, acknowledging the sociopolitical and cultural aspects that are often overlooked when we talk about health!

It is my health breakdown that brought me here. You can read about it in my “about”. I gained 30KG in less than a year due to PCOS & fibromyalgia. It took me 3-4 years to lose the weight. Now I am pain-free, over 30KG lighter, and I am a self-taught calisthenics athlete.

This is why I don’t believe in quick fixes or easy solutions, especially if the body has been burdened by deep stress, trauma, or living life in “go-go-go” mode for too long.

My writing services include retainer packages for women’s health and wellness brands (I have a background as an SEO content & marketing specialist) and editorial articles and essays.
